In the afterword, these pages are expanded on, which provides more in-depth information on each fact presented. Each page features an illustration of a different kind of penguin.
Theme/Purpose: The theme in this book is penguins. The author's purpose is to teach children about penguins to provide them with more information on their lifestyle and characteristics.
Selection/Evaluation: I selected this book because it demonstrates a variety of characteristics that help penguins survive. Using this book, the teacher can discuss with students the adaptations different kinds of penguins have made as a result of their environment. Looking at the pictures, students can also infer the needs of penguins.
